FACILITATION SKILLS
This program was developed to identify and practice the
structure and skills that promote effective group interaction
and learning. Participants practice the specific skills
used to generate interest,maximize participation and then
manage a productive group dynamic.
The emphasis of this workshop is on practical application
of the
structure and skills necessary to facilitate a group's
learning .
The course centers around videotaped practice sessions
which focus on Questioning, Actionable Feedback and organization.
Participants learn how to involve a group in the learning
process, how to manage difficult group members, and how
to motivate a group to use the newly acquired information,
understanding, and skills.
This program emphasizes three key skill areas:
* Questioning Techniques for management and for content
* Actionable Feedback
* Active Listening
Key areas where facilitation skills are required, each
distinctive in its objective, are the following:
1) Facilitating a process or procedure. Example: Leading
a meeting
2) Facilitating a group in order to reach an objective
or goal.
Example: Developing a strategic plan.
3) Facilitating the learning process. Example: Training--
coming to an understanding of new concepts and their application.
